Syria’s Assad reiterates strategic ties with Iran

TEHRAN - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday underlined the importance of strategic relationship with Iran, saying it would benefit the two countries and the entire region.

President Assad made the remarks in a meeting with Hossein Jaberi Ansari, the special assistant to Iranian foreign minister for political affairs, and his accompanying delegation in Damascus, Fars reported.

Jaberi Ansari, for his part, said the crackdown on terrorism in Syria has provided a proper ground to find a political solution to the Syrian conflict. 

He also congratulated the Syrian people and leadership on the recent achievements of the Syrian army in Dara’a province.
